Many of Barry's songs are based on characters he knew growing up in rural Georgia. Although he writes a variety of songs, his favorite "character" based, story-songs almost always carry a philosophical message. He has been referred to by the legendary Bill Lowery as "one of the very best story-song writers". Barry’s songs are heard world-wide.
